Harper Teague - Club President, Founder & Social Media/Marketing Manager:
“I have a very vibrant history within the world of arts and literature. Over time, I have performed in multiple musical productions, been a vocal student for 8+ years, and done intern work for the Palmetto Youth Choir. I created The Advocate to provide young artists & writers with a platform to publish their works within a safe and encouraging environment. I’m most excited about my role as President because it allows me to appreciate and admire all the wonderful and creative works that are submitted by others. The Advocate’s cause aligns with me because of my passion for writing and my love of the arts.”

Bouden Tippens - Vice President
“When Harper first brought up the idea of The Advocate to Jack, Bella, and I, my only thought was to say yes. I'm not the most creative person, but The Advocate sounded like a wonderful idea. I'd love to help other people have their works shared and seen by others. In my free time, I enjoy simple things like spending time with my friends, playing video games, and drinking coffee. I'm truly excited to help bring not just Harpers, but also other people's creations to life. It’s my passion to help others and The Advocate allows me to do that in an amazing and impactful way.”

Isabella All - Executive & Public Relations Manager
“When I was told about The Advocate I realized that being a member of The Advocate’s “Council” would be a great opportunity to get to know more people at AMHS, by being able to help students connect to each other and with different opportunities for publicity. It also allows me to watch and help people achieve their goals and excel in something they love to do, and seeing people happy always makes me smile. I’m passionate about robotics and the programming world and have been on robotics teams for 4 years now, but music, art, and writing also mean the world to me. I love to write stories, songs, and to draw things to go along with them. Overall, I can’t wait to see all the different students grow in what they love to do!”

Owen Russell - Executive Developer
“As Executive Developer, I am excited to bring my ideas to the table, through original articles or insights for the club’s infrastructure. For me, the Advocate represents free speech and a necessary voice in the constant battle against censorship, something I am very passionate about. I have spoken at multiple school board meetings, fighting book banning alongside DAYLO (the Diversity Awareness Youth Literacy Organization). I love to write and tell stories, which is why I am excited about the Advocate, and also why I founded Critical Wit, Academic Magnet’s D&D club.”
Jack Herzke - Editor in Chief & Current Events Manager
“I am currently a sophomore at Academic Magnet. As the chief editor and current events manager I am incredibly interested in helping with articles and also writing some on my own. I joined The Advocate’s council to help others and spread awareness through the platform hoping to serve, also as a base of support for anyone who wants it. I love reading, and extension writing, especially about subjects I care about. As you may be able to tell from my role in The Advocate, in addition to overseeing edits to articles published by The Advocate, I will also play a part in writing some, especially relating to current events, a favorite subject of mine. As the chief editor, I want to help make The Advocate a clean and polished platform for anyone who wants to share their views.”

Dr. Russell - Teacher Supervisor
“I am the teacher librarian, technology liaison, and communications director at Academic Magnet High School. I have a strong love for literary arts and have served as an English teacher at the middle and high school levels, a K-12 Gifted Specialist, and a former assistant professor of curriculum and instruction. Serving as the teacher advisor for The Advocate was an easy decision for me because of my love of literary arts, reading, and writing!”
